When you look at the work of photographer Giséle Lubsen, it’s easy to get confused and think you’re actually looking at classic paintings. The Dutch-born shutterbug specializes in underwater photography. In order to achieve the stunning and ethereal images, Lubsen builds a relationship of trust with her models.
For the 2016 Stop Cancer Anniversary Gala in Los Angeles later this month, Lubsen will be donating her service as part of the night’s silent and live auctions. The lucky winner will receive a package worth $10,000 that includes; makeup, direction, two art pieces, and a video of the photo shoot.
Lubsen finds underwater photography both to be artistic and liberating. The cancer survivor says, “water is healing and allows us to go back to our natural source and feel limitless and free.” She reminds us of our first experience with water being in the womb; a nurturing and protective environment.
