Fighting stallions battled to be leader of a herd in Austria in a generations’ old tradition.
The horses are pushed into a ring where they attack each other by jumping up and swinging their legs. One of the stallions got an unwanted powerful kick to the testicles during a fight.
The aggressive display is designed to establish a hierarchy for the group of stallions in Austria, according to the organisers. Crowds watched the fighting take place today in Aschau, in the Austrian province of Tyrol.
In 2014 the organisers said the fights should help decrease the risk of horses becoming aggressive with each another whilst on the Alps.
